Pickin' Up & Movin'

I'm finally taking the plunge, not the white dress and cake kind, but the wordpress kind. I'm ready for a change and a lot more options, so cross your fingers that it all goes smoothly -- seriously cause I'm a little nervous and making one of those eeeekk faces right now. Nothing URL-wise (kittycotten.com) should change, but things could get a little weird around here for a bit, so pretty please hold in there!

Hope you enjoyed that photo of the furball that lives in our apartment. I think she considers Joel's dresser her vacation home or maybe she's discovered a magical passage way to Narnia in there, both are probably true.

Zesty Strawberry Yogurt Cake

I love baking with fruit, especially in the summertime! This strawberry lemon cake just might be my new favorite cake! Lemon zest keeps it light and fresh, while the greek yogurt makes the cake perfectly moist. It's definitely a crowd pleaser at a weekend barbecue or a yummy morning snack.

I haven't worn a sweater in forever! But our super hot summer days have turned into chilly evenings. It makes me excited for fall layering and cozy knits.

Diamonds Are A Gal's Best Friend!

My first Etsy purchase! I saw these babies and knew I needed to add them to my jewelry box. I've been on an Etsy 'favoriting' binge. I'll sit down at my computer to check my email and an hour later I'm drooling over dainty necklaces, adorable bags and amazing art prints! Here are few things I've had my eye on... I think I really need that passport holder!

DIY Painted Magazine Holder

SUPPLIES:
- magazine holder (mine are from Ikea)
- your choice of paint color
- paint brush
- painter's tape

Watch the video to see how it's done!

STEP 1 : Tape off your design. I went with a simple angular outline. You could try stripes, plaid, anything you like!

STEP 2 : Apply your chosen paint color. I went with a subtle champagne and pearl color.

STEP 3 : Let the first coat dry, then apply a second coat of paint.

STEP 4 : Let the second coat dry, then remove the painter's tape.

STEP 5 : Fill with your favorite magazines and place it on your bookshelf!
